IDAHO T

As a part of its work plan for 2018 the Western Region Family Resource Centre LGBT (lesbian gay bisexual transgender) Network aims to participate again this year in IDAHO T Day.
This International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO T) is recognised in over 60 countries around the world on 17 May, the 1990 date when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.
Loughrea FRC has linked with Loughrea Library to organise a display of IDAHO T related information. This display will be in Loughrea Family & Community Resource Cente.
Please feel free to drop in to view the display or to sign the petition to support LGBT people and show our community stands up for equality and inclusion.

IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia) 17th May 2018

In celebration of IDAHO day 2018 the Family Resource Centre (FRC) Western Region Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Network have been busy organising a number of  events to take place across the Galway - Mayo region.
The Network consists of 12 Family Resource Centres from Galway and Mayo working alongside a number of active Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender organisations. Over the last 12 years, the Network have carried out a number of innovative projects and initiatives supporting LGBT people, promoting available services and supports, while creating awareness of important issues throughout the wider community.
IDAHO Day – is the ‘International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia’. It is a global initiative designed to create awareness of LGBT issues and highlight the existence of homophobic bullying and ways to combat it.
Since its inception in 2006 the FRC LGBT Network has been active in promoting the rights, inclusion and support of LGBT people in Galway and Mayo counties through varied social justice based activities and outreach. The role of the FRC LGBT Network is to develop local and countywide responses to LGBT issues; highlight supports available and share resources; work together in order to achieve more through shared supports; provide visibility in local communities for LGBT people and their emerging issues; support FRC responses to LGBT issues and help ensure that FRCs are friendly and inclusive to LGBT people, their families and friends.
If you would like any further information about supports or services that exist for LGBT people in your area, please contact your local Family Resource Centre for details.
